• Every student/family and staff member should screen for COVID-19 symptoms each morning prior to coming to work/school. Individuals with COVID-19 symptoms should stay home and test. Symptoms include fever of 100.4 or higher, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, muscle or body aches, new loss of smell/taste, vomiting, nausea, or diarrhea.
• GGUSD provides at-home test kits to students and staff upon request. Testing is recommended for those who are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms or 3-5 days following a COVID exposure.

• COVID-19 Positive: Families should notify schools if their child has COVID-19 and was at school during his/her infectious period. Regardless of vaccination status, individuals who test positive for COVID-19 must stay home and isolate for at least 5 days but may return to school on Day 6 regardless of testing as long as they are feeling well, symptoms are improving, and they are fever-free for 24 hours. CDPH guidance continues to recommend that students who test positive for COVID-19 wear a mask for 10 days from symptom onset.
• Symptomatic: Regardless of vaccination status, individuals with COVID-19 symptoms should stay home and take a COVID-19 test. Those who test negative should not return to school/work for 24 hours without a fever (without the use of fever reducing medication) and other symptoms improving. If symptoms are not improving, individuals should test again and/or visit their health care provider for an alternative diagnosis.
• Exposure: Individuals who have been exposed to COVID-19 can come to school if asymptomatic but should test within 3-5 days of exposure and wear a well-fitted mask around others for 10 days especially in indoor settings.

GGUSD will follow CDPH masking guidance. Currently, masks are not required but students and staff cannot be prevented from wearing a mask if they wish. Schools and district offices will provide face masks for those who want to wear one but inadvertently fail to bring one from home.

• Hand Washing: Each school has, in addition to classroom and restroom sinks, 5-25 hand washing stations based on size/enrollment.
• Hand Sanitizing: Campuses are equipped with touchless hand sanitizer stations for high traffic areas and wall-mounted hand sanitizer in all classrooms.

• Custodial staff has been trained on specialized COVID cleaning and disinfecting procedures, and use of equipment.
• Ventilation has been upgraded to maximize fresh air circulation.

• Reporting: GGUSD tracks all positive cases of COVID-19 and reports outbreaks (3 or more linked cases within a 14-day period) to the Orange County Health Care Agency.
• Notifications: GGUSD will notify families if their child was exposed to COVID-19 on campus (spent more than 15 minutes in a 24-hour period in a shared indoor space with someone with COVID-19 during his/her infectious period.
• Transparency: GGUSD will post positive COVID-19 case counts by site on its Dashboard once per week.
