Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education made a unanimous decision during its Study Session on October 15 to move forward with plans to livestream its meetings. The livestream is expected to be up and running on the district’s YouTube channel by the end of the school year, following the purchase of new equipment and the addition of a control room to its boardroom.

“I have been an outspoken proponent of livestreaming our meetings and I am proud that we will soon upgrade our technology to make this a reality,” said Board of Education Trustee Walter Muneton. “As a board, we share a commitment to transparency and accessibility and livestreaming will allow more of our community members to tune into our meetings.”

GGUSD has been conducting audio recordings of its board meetings for decades. In recent years, the district has begun livestreaming various events including high school graduations, football games, spelling bees, showcase of bands, and other important occasions.

“Livestreaming our board meetings will benefit GGUSD families, staff and students who are interested in board action but unable to attend meetings in person,” said Board of Education Vice President Lan Nguyen, a longtime advocate of livestreaming.  “We want our community to be well-informed about the great things happening in our district and livestreaming will provide one more platform to get our message out.”
