The Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) is expanding its free Summer Meal program to better serve families in need and help ensure that children do not go hungry when school is not in session. This summer, GGUSD will offer free summer lunch to all children age 18 and under at more than 20 locations.  New this summer, the program will be offered at the Garden Grove Library and an additional three GGUSD schools.

The program is available through the National School Lunch Seamless Summer food service program and does not require enrollment.  Lunches, provided at no charge, are designed to meet a student’s nutritional needs. A typical lunch may include a submarine sandwich, pizza, chicken and rice bowl, salad, yogurt, choice of fruits and vegetables from the salad bar, juice and milk.

The summer lunch program schedule will be offered Monday through Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. beginning June 26 through August 3 at Rancho Alamitos High School, Doig and Irvine intermediate schools, and the Stanford and Chapman branches of the Garden Grove Library.  The Chapman branch will serve lunch Monday through Thursday only.

From July 3 through July 28, lunch will be offered at Carver Early Childhood Education Center, Eisenhower, Newhope, Paine, Post, and Sunnyside elementary schools, as well as Alamitos, Fitz, and Jordan intermediate schools from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Bryant, Crosby, Faylane, Peter’s K-3, and Russell elementary schools will also be offering free lunches from July 3 through July 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The Boys and Girls Club will also be offering the program beginning June 26 through August 24 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and at its headquarters, 9860 Larson Avenue, Garden Grove and its main branch offered at Clinton Elementary School, 13641 Clinton Street, Garden Grove.
