GGUSD Graduations Recognize Accomplishments of 3,000 Scholars

More than 3,000 high school seniors from Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) graduated from the district’s eight high schools during graduation ceremonies held May 31 and June 1 at the district’s stadiums at Bolsa Grande and Garden Grove high schools.

GGUSD friends and family members filled the stadiums to cheer on their graduates. Ceremonies featured student musical performances as well as speeches from students, principals, and board of education members, reading of the names, presentation of class gifts, presentation of the Class of 2022, and awarding of diplomas.

Among the Class of 2022, more than 900 students report that they have chosen to attend a UC or CSU school. Additionally, students in the Class of 2022 finished high school with more than 6,700 Advanced Placement courses completed.

“GGUSD graduates give us hope and optimism for the future,” said Board of Education President Bob Harden. “These hard-working students have earned numerous academic accolades, demonstrated leadership and grit, and have shown a commitment to important values like inclusion and kindness. We are confident they will go on to achieve lifelong success as they pursue their passions during the next chapter of their lives.”

The Class of 2022 includes more than 570 seniors who earned the state’s Seal of Biliteracy for fluency in two or more languages and 1,480 scholars who earned the Golden State Seal Merit Diploma demonstrating mastery in at least six subject areas.

For the fifth year in a row, all seven comprehensive high schools were named to U.S. News and World Report’s elite rankings as America’s Best High Schools. GGUSD is the first district in Orange County to be named a California Exemplary District for model practices.

The ceremonies were streamed live on the district’s YouTube channel to be viewed by friends and family who could not attend the in-person ceremonies.
