GGUSD Invites All Families to Free Wellness Resource Fair and Workshops

Garden Grove Unified School District invites all families and students to its Choose Wellness Education and Resource Fair on Thursday, May 2nd from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Fitz Intermediate Language Academy, 4600 W. McFadden Street in Santa Ana. This FREE event features student performances, wellness resources, health screenings, giveaways, food and the opportunity to attend workshops designed to help families support their child’s mental health and well-being.
Parent workshops are offered at 5:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. and include:
- Bullying Prevention and Intervention for Parents and Caregivers (presented by Western Youth Services)
- How to Support Your Child’s Mental Health as They Grow (presented by CHOC)
- Engaging with your Child in a Digital Era (presented by GGUSD social workers)
- Preventing Risky Behaviors in Children (presented by Project Kinship)
- Youth Suicide Prevention (presented by Didi Hirsch)
- What Parents Need to Know about Gangs and Kids (presented by GRIP)
The event also includes a workshop for fifth through twelfth grade students from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. called “How to be an Upstander,” which teaches students how to stand up to bullying.
Interpretation in Spanish, Vietnamese and Korean will be offered and childcare for children ages 2-10 will be provided. Families can RSVP to attend at http://www.ggusd.us/choosewellnessrsvp
For those who cannot attend, both Bullying Prevention and How to Support Your Child’s Mental Health as they Grow will be offered online via Zoom. “This important event is part of our district’s annual Choose Wellness campaign to increase awareness and resources for mental health and wellness,” said Board of Education Trustee Walter Muneton. “We encourage all families to attend to gain important tools they can use at home to support the mental health and wellness of their children.”
