- Monday, May 22, 2023
Approximately 800 Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) students with disabilities competed in Olympic-style competitions during the district’s 52nd annual Special Games on May 19 at the stadium at Bolsa Grande High School. The event is organized by the district’s Adapted Physical Education Department.
Approximately 550 student leaders from the district’s eight high schools volunteer to run Special Games events, including relays, softball toss, soccer kick, football throw, volleyball, basketball, face painting, and more.
“Special Games reflects our district’s commitment to support the academic and personal skills of all students and allows us to come together to celebrate the abilities of our special needs students,” said Board of Education President Walter Muneton.
