Irvine Intermediate School student Jayden Ham has landed a lead role as the voice of Bossy in Nickelodeon’s new animated series Bossy Bear, a 30-episode preschool series set to air on Nickelodeon in 2023.
“I relate a lot to Bossy Bear because he is very excited and outgoing and I see a lot of that in me. I love how excited he is all of the time and that he learns from his mistakes,” said Ham, who added that the voice work involves Zoom sessions twice each week.
Ham has been acting since second grade and also had roles in a short film called Sea of Lights as well as a role in an episode of the Netflix show Making Fun. Bossy Bear, based on a popular book series about an extroverted, imaginative Bear and his introverted, empathetic best friend Turtle, is Ham’s largest role.
“TV is my whole life and so to be in it, that would be awesome,” said Ham. “My dream job is to be a well-known actor in a Marvel movie.”
Ham said he would encourage others to continue pursuing their dreams when they find something they love. “To think, I came from saying one line in a Crest toothpaste audition to having an entire series, it’s amazing how far you can go when you keep trying.”
Ham is an Honor Roll student and takes GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) courses. In addition to acting, he enjoys creating animation, drawing and his STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) course.
