GGUSD to Offer Free Summer Meal Program

The Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) is offering a free Summer Meal program to help ensure that children have access to nutritional meals when school is not in session. The program will provide free summer meals, available at nine locations, to all GGUSD students.
From June 21 through July 16, there will be curbside meal service for families to receive grab and go meals Monday through Friday, from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. at Hazard, Paine, Peters K-3, and Stanford elementary schools, as well as Alamitos, Doig, and Fitz intermediate schools. From June 14 through July 23, there will be curbside meal service for families to receive grab and go meals Monday through Friday from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at Garden Grove High School and Rancho Alamitos High School. All nine meal service sites also provide summer meals to students enrolled in summer school Free meals are available for all GGUSD students, and a GGUSD student ID must be presented and scanned to receive each meal.
“This program helps ensure that families who rely on school lunch continue to have access to healthy food for their children during the summer,” said Board of Education Trustee Bob Harden. “At GGUSD, we are committed to supporting the ‘whole child,’ and the Summer Meal program does just that.”
GGUSD has also partnered with Orange County Public Libraries to offer Lunch at the Library, which provides free healthy meals for all children and people with disabilities over the age of 18 who are enrolled in a special education program. Lunch at the Library will be offered June 15 through July 23 and provides Grab & Go meals on a first-come, first-serve basis Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Grab and Go meals are available at the Garden Grove Main Library, 11200 Stanford Avenue, and the Chapman Library, 9182 Chapman Avenue
